BrickDesign History
The development of BrickDesign was triggered by a small software we realized a couple of years ago for the company Keller AG Ziegeleien. ROB Creator is a java-based program, which allows the user to apply patterns and images on straight brick walls. The created designs can be directly ordered from Keller. This software lacks a lot of functionalities BrickDesign has to offer. But, it is fun to play around with and has the advantage to be a standalone software and very easy to use. If you want to give it a try, you can get it here: ROB Creator.

BrickDesign at Swissbau 2012
We will present the BrickDesign Prototyp 2 at the Swissbau 2012 taking place in Basel from 17th to 21th of Januar. You will find us at the stand of Keller AG Ziegeleien, exhibition hall 1.0/C95. We are looking forward to seeing you.
Prototyp 2
We completed the 2nd BrickDesign prototype. The prototype allows the integration of user defined details into the parametric data model (e.g. corners, relveals, etc.) and you can now create curved facades. Further, ou can choose different bonds or create your own bonding rules. Further, we worked on creating a better workflow, especially binding the plugin closer to common Rhino commands.
Following, some screenshots:
Prototyp 1
We finalized a first protoype of the BrickDesign software. The prototype holds all functionalities to design the complex facade of the chosen test scenario of a multi-family apartment building.
The focus of our development for the protoype lay on realizing an adequate data structure, as well as implementing the necessary functionalities to represent the test scenario within the software. On the other hand, we did not put an emphasis on operability or GUI design in this phase.
A scripting interface allows the user to access the paramters of the individual bricks. Thereby, the user can expand the software himself and realize an idefinte number of design variants:
Further, the prototype BrickDesign software enables the integration of fabrication relevant information, e.g. panelization of the facade, setting of anchor points, etc.:
